Bill Gates meets with Narendra Modi, lauds focus on banking and sterilization for poor

Gates, who was accompanied by his own wife Melinda, commended Modi's emphasis on community sterilization initiatives, and in particular, applauded his focus on supplying toilets as an essential driver of kid well-being, as well as a notable determinant in the security and dignity of women and girls.

In Gates' Day address, the Prime Minister had stressed in the necessity for cleanliness and held the government's resolution for a "Swachh Bharat" (clean India)- a scheme that will be established on October 2, to be achieved by 2019.


He'd said the initial step towards "Swachh Bharat" will start with instant effect, through a commitment to construct toilets in all schools, including independent toilets for girls, within one year.

Bill Gates additionally valued the attempts in India in introducing four new vaccines that were essential in its Universal Immunization Program. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation expressed keenness to carry on its partnership with India in this place.

The Prime Minister commended the nature of public good and philanthropy, with which the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has been working.

The Prime valued the attempts of the Foundation in the states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in health care, and discussed with them how these could be incorporated with the existing government programs.

Bill and Melinda Gates also valued the progress in institutional delivery by including private sector and public health facilities in Gujarat.a
